Frequently Asked Questions
What am I expected to do?
Mentees are expected to be proactive and engaged. It is an expectation to meet for at least one hour per month; this interaction can be virtual or face to face. The mentee and mentor will be provided a "Connection Plan", which is a guide for the relationship. This plan will provide direction and activities as you navigate the relationship. The relationship is led by you (mentee), but together you will determine the level of support that will be most useful. Each relationship is unique, and planning will need to be tailored to meet your specific needs as you work towards your goals.
How long will the mentors be available?
We ask our mentors to make commitments of at least eight months to ensure that you are able to fully benefit from the relationship. If a mentor must leave the relationship early, there will be an opportunity to identify a new mentor to continue supporting you.
How do I join and what are the next steps?
- Click on the "Join Now" button above and complete the membership form. The membership form is required for algorithmic matching to ensure a mutually beneficial relationship. (Note: demographic questions are optional, only geographic location will be utilized for mentor/mentee matching, and information will be held confidential. Information would only be shared with the program administrator to showcase efficacy, inclusion, and sustainability).
- You will be able to review the membership forms of potential mentors.
- You will then be able to select 2-3 potential mentors that you are interested in and send a request.
- The mentor will then have the option to accept or decline the request.
- You will be notified via email once a mentor accepted your request and be provided next steps to access your connection plan to begin your mentoring relationship.
